A4: Cable Organizer

This object came from my need to tidy up my desk space of the clutter that is my 10+ cables. I also constantly find myself having to reach to the floor to grab my various cables. This organizer has 3 slots where multiple cords can fit in each slot and can discreetly be attached to the side of my desk.
Design Process

Design sketch where I chose to go with the 3 slots rather than individual organizers

Original print where the slots turned out too small to fit my average cord

Final design made in Solidworks and transferred to Rhino with top, right, front, and perspective views

Final, resized print attached to the side of my desk
Analysis
What Worked Well
- First time using a 3D printer and experienced no failed prints!
- Even with 20% infill, organizer feels well made and sturdy yet light weight
- Each slot can fit multiple cables. In fact, adding more cables makes them fit better
- Size fits perfectly along side of desk
- Rounded edges provide for a softer aesthetic
- Refreshing Solidworks skills proved to be quite rewarding
- Can easily alter design to fit more or less cables
- Smaller prototype can still be repurposed

Improvements
- Size of smaller prototype could still work if slots were wider and holes remain the same
- Size of slots may not fit larger cords
- Space for the top of product to have braille written on it
- Frustrating to use Rhino where dimension adjustments aren't allowed
- Could make organizer half the width to cut down on printing time
- Potential to have hook on the side that lets me wrap the cable around
