A2: Shoulder Bag

This is a shoulder bag that can be worn on one shoulder or as a cross body bag. The idea behind this bag came from my need to have a casual bag that fit my everyday essentials
Design Process

Initial sketch and design ideas
Pattern for fabric
Prototype pouch
Finished bag
The original sketches for this bag played around with the type of closure. I settled on a zipper closure. Then, I sketched out the fabric pattern and practiced on a smaller scale pouch using muslin. After that, I felt confident in making my final product!
Analysis
What Worked Well
- Really fun learning the process of setting up the sewing machine and the act of sewing
- Folding seams onto themselves before sewing created cleaner stitching
- Secure stitch for every seam
- Pattern of fabric goes well for everyday wear
- Double lining with pink fabric gives extra stability and adds to aesthetic
Improvements
- Use thicker material such that process of taking it off and on isn't as delicate
- Next time, insert strap into bag before sewing each side together
- Some seams could have been straighter
- Use of additional pins could help with this
